God said I need somebody to wake up and give kisses, pee on a tree, sleep all day, wake up again, give more kisses, and then stay up till midnight basking in the glow of the television set.
So God made a Dog

God said I need somebody willing to sit, then stay, then roll over then with no ego or complaint dress in hats they do not need and costumes they do not understand.
I need somebody who can break wind without a first thought or second thought.
Who can chase tails, sniff crotches, fetch sticks and lift spirits with a lick.
Somebody no matter what you didn’t do, or couldn’t take, or didn’t win, or couldn’t make will love you without judgment just the same.
So God made a Dog

God said I need somebody strong enough to pull sleds and find bombs, yet gentle enough to love babies and lead the blind.
Somebody who will spend all day on a couch with the resting head and supportive eyes to lift the spirits of a broken heart.
So God made a Dog

It had to be somebody who would remain patient and loyal even thru loneliness. Somebody to care, cuddle, snuggle and nuzzle, and cheer and charm and snore and slobber and eat the trash and chase the squirrels.
Somebody who would bring a family together with selflessness of an open heart. Somebody who would bark, and then pant, and then reply with the rapid wag of tail when their best friend says lets go for a ride in the car.
So God made a Dog

God said I need somebody who would stand at your side when the world around you collapses.
Somebody to lie next to you during the long nights of pain and sorrow when it hurts to move, or talk, or think, or be.
Somebody to stand guard, play games, snore for hours, and repeat as needed.
Somebody to give you strength when you have none of your own.
Somebody to fight when you have no fight left, to hold onto your soul as if it were their favorite toy, playing tug of war to keep you in this world.
Somebody to be your companion and guide in this world and the next.
Somebody to wait for you on the other side or stand guard in your absence until they can join you for eternity.

A man wrote a letter to a small hotel in a Midwest
town he planned to visit on his vacation.
He wrote: I would very much like to bring my dog
with me. He is well-groomed and very well behaved.

Would you be willing to permit me to keep him in my
room with me at night?”
 
An immediate reply came from the hotel owner, who wrote:

SIR: “I’ve been operating this hotel for many years.
In all that time, I’ve never had a dog steal towels,
bed clothes, silverware or steal pictures off the walls  
or use them as a coloring book.
 
I’ve never had to evict a dog in the middle of the night
for being drunk and disorderly.
And I’ve never had a dog run out on a hotel bill.

How the dog got his name

Wie fotografiert man einen Welpen?

1. Nehmen Sie einen neuen Film aus der Schachtel und laden Sie Ihre Kamera.
2. Nehmen Sie die Filmschachtel aus dem Maul des Welpen und werfen Sie sie in den Abfalleimer.
3. Nehmen Sie den Welpen aus dem Abfalleimer und bürsten Sie ihm den Kaffeesud aus der Schnauze.
4. Wählen Sie einen passenden Hintergrund für das Foto.
5. Montieren Sie die Kamera und machen Sie sie aufnahmebereit.
6. Suchen Sie den Welpen und nehmen Sie ihm den schmutzigen Socken aus dem Maul.
7. Plazieren Sie den Welpen auf dem vorbereiteten Platz und gehen Sie zur Kamera.
8. Vergessen Sie den Platz und kriechen Sie Ihrem Welpen auf allen Vieren nach.
9. Stellen Sie Ihre Kamera mit einer Hand wieder ein und locken Sie Ihren Welpen mit einem Leckerbissen.
10. Holen Sie ein Taschentuch und reinigen Sie die Linse vom Nasenabdruck.
11. Nehmen Sie den Blitzwürfel aus dem Maul des Welpen und werfen Sie ihn weg (den Blitzwürfel).
12. Sperren Sie die Katze aus und behandeln Sie den Kratzer auf der Nase Ihres Welpen mit etwas Gel.
13. Stellen Sie den Aschenbecher und legen Sie die Zeitschriften zurück auf den Couchtisch.
14. Versuchen Sie, dem Welpen einen interessierten Ausdruck zu entlocken, indem Sie ein Quietschi über den Kopf halten.
15. Rücken Sie Ihre Brille wieder zurecht und holen Sie die Kamera unter dem Sofa hervor.
16. Springen Sie rechtzeitig auf, nehmen Sie den Welpen auf den Arm und sagen:
“Nein – das machst Du draußen”.
17. Rufen Sie Ihren Lebenspartner, um beim Aufräumen zu helfen.

Life of a Puppy

This morning, I woke up & kissed my dad’s head. I peed on the carpet, then went back to bed. “The life of a puppy, oh my, this is great.” Then I thought about breakfast,” I hope it’s not late.”

Mom took me outside, we walked for a while. This never fails to make Mama smile. I sniffed of everything, that we did pass, I ate something weird – it gave me gas.

I’m sure God loves me, I know that is true. He gave me so many great things to chew. Rugs, plants or rocks, I really don’t care. What I truly like best, is Dad’s underwear.

That obedience book, was sort of yummy. Though it didn’t sit well on my poor puppy tummy. I threw up a bit, but that was all right, When Mom found it later, I was well out of sight.

I made streamers of T. P., while running at full speed. Mom is pretty quick — but I was still in the lead. I flew under the bed, and Mom flew past, She stopped-shook her head, and breathed, “You’re too fast.”

Mama later phoned Daddy, and said, “It was frightening!” That afternoon, she was sure I’d pooped lightning. She’d sat at the computer, while I chewed the cord, She thought I was mad, but I was just bored.

When Mama had enough, couldn’t take anymore, That’s when it’s my time to go out the door. I love it inside, but outside is best. Lay in the cool grass, and had a good rest.

That didn’t last long, there was too much to do - Can’t quite remember where I hid Daddy’s shoe. I found an old bone, and scratched at a flea, I watched the dumb squirrels as they jumped in a tree.

I barked at the kids, when they got off the bus. I can’t figure out why this makes Mama fuss. I barked at the neighbor, I barked at the wind. I barked and barked, till Mom yelled, “COME IN.”

The sun dipped in the west-soon Daddy would come! I sure love my daddy: we always have fun. I barked at my daddy, then turned on my charms, I woo-wooed, “Hello,” then jumped in his arms.

Sitting under the table — it’s sooo hard to wait. Daddy slipped me a goodie right off his plate. I raced through the house, and scattered my toys, I barked around and made lots of noise.

Mom found her purse – the one I abused. Daddy let loose a chuckle. Mom asked “Amused??” I cowered down low, I must be in trouble. Dad said, “Wasn’t MY boy, it must be his double!”

Mom turned off the TV, and said,”Time for bed.” Dad said “Let’s go boy,” and patted my head. I got in my spot, between Mom and Dad, I thought ’bout my day and what fun I had.

10 Gebote für Hundehalter

1. Mein Leben dauert wahrscheinlich zehn bis fünfzehn Jahre. Du übernimmst die volle Verantwortung für mich. Jede Trennung von Dir ist schmerzhaft für mich. Du hast  Deine Freunde, Deine Arbeit und Deine Unterhaltung. ICH HABE NUR DICH.
2. Gib mir Zeit zu verstehen, was Du willst. Ich werde mich immer bemühen, alles recht zu machen.
3. Setze Dein Vertrauen in mich. Bedenke, dass mein Vertrauen in Dich grenzenlos ist.
4. Sprich mit mir. Ich verstehe vielleicht nicht alle Deine Worte, aber ich verstehe Deine Stimme, wenn du zu mir sprichst.
5. Bevor Du mich ausschimpfst, ungehorsam oder faul zu sein, frage Dich, ob mich vielleicht etwas quält. Vielleicht habe ich nicht verstanden, was du von mir willst oder vielleicht fühle ich mich nicht gut, habe nicht das richtige Futter bekommen, habe zu lange in der Sonne gelegen oder mein Herz wird alt und schwach.
